Odyssey 2012 Masterclasses
Three levels of classes for dancers age 10 + at the
Nanaimo Conference Centre, adjacent to the Port Theatre. ALL DANCERS ARE WELCOME
AT THE CLASSES - YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE PERFORMING IN THE SHOW!!!
For VIYDTA members, the first class is FREE!
(Become a member for only $15 per annum) Non-members, or 2nd class $20. Register
early to avoid disappointment. $500 bursary to be awarded based on
participation in the master classes! Recipient(s) will be selected by the
guest teacher Heather Laura Gray. Must be 18 years or
younger to be eligible.
Senior Level age 14+ years (with considerable
experience)
11 am - 12:30 pm
Intermediate Level 12 - 15 years (or older with less
experience)
12:45 - 2:15
Junior Level 10 - 12 years
2:30- 3:45

Open Master-class Workshops
A key feature of these special events
are the open Master Class Workshops that Dancestreams offers to any and all
dancers particularly accessible for regional dance schools. For these events
guest professional artists from many different disciplines in the performing
arts (Flamenco, Musical Theatre, Jazz, Voice, Drama, Modern, and Ballet)
increase the level of professional development available for the surrounding
regions. It is the hope of Dancestreams that this service will benefit as many
people as possible and further recognize and highlight the important
contribution that Arts and Culture make in the life of healthy communities.
Community Master Classes
From time to time, Dancestreams
Artistic staff conduct free master classes and workshops to introduce ballet or
modern dance to children in communities without access to formal dance training.
Typically, these workshops are conducted in communities such as the Gulf
Islands.
